The first Emory University Playwriting Fellow will be appointed to the Department of Theater Studies and the Program in Creative Writing at Emory University in Atlanta, commencing August 2014 and completing May 2016.
The annual teaching load of 3 courses will include a playwriting workshop, dramatic literature course (e.g. “Contemporary Drama”), and additional course suited to the fellow’s particular strengths and interests (e.g. “Screenwriting”, “Creating New Work”, “Advanced Playwriting”, “Studies in Genre”, etc.)
Playwriting Fellow will work with Theater Emory and its Playwriting Center, including the contribution of a new play to their biennial play festival, Brave New Works.
The salary is set at $38,000/yr plus health benefits and $3000 professional travel funds.
Required: MFA in Playwriting (by 9-1-14), with teaching experience and strong evidence of active playwriting career. Desirable: record of production

NOTE: Top candidates will be invited to Emory for a 2-4 day residency, interview, and play reading during Brave New Works (our new play festival) January 26-Feb 16, 2014.
